Glam Polish Indigo Sparkle

It's no secret that Glam Polish is one of my absolute favourite indie nail polish brands, and just one of my favourite brands overall! Her polishes are absolutely adorable and gorgeous, and so my style. :) The polish I'm going to show you today is no exception!

This is Indigo Sparkle, Glam Polish's first holo! It's an indigo (as the name would suggest), with that beautiful holographic sparkly shimmer! :) I think it sort of has a pink shimmer through it, also. It's sooo pretty! And quite a bit more holographic-looking in person! Sorry that my photos don't do it justice.

I used 2 super duper easy coats with no top coat. (If your nails are longer than mine, you may need 3 coats.)

This polish will be available from Glam Polish soon {possibly tomorrow}! Follow her social media sites {listed below} for updates!

piCture pOlish Ariel's Tale, Flirt & Ocean Swatches

Hi guys! You may have seen my piCture pOlish Blog Fest '13 post earlier this week. I created a look using Ariel's Tale, Ocean & Flirt by piCture pOlish and I wanted to also share some swatches with you, but my post was getting too long to include all of these photos. Haha.

I decided to get a bit creative with my swatches. They're a little lame though so don't judge me. :P

Ariel's Tale is a very pretty ocean-y green glitter in a clear base. It applies super smoothly and the glitter coats the nail evenly which is great, no need to nudge the glitters around. It dried very fast and shiny, too.
Recently my Auntie went to Fiji and brought me back a pretty bracelet! The beads remind me of shells from the beach or a mermaid. :)
I layered 1 coat of Ariel's Tale over Flirt, with no top coat.

Flirt is a standard bright berry pink creme. This polish has an amazing formula. So so nice, and almost opaque in just one coat! It also dried super fast and ultra shiny! No need to add a top coat! :)
This polish reminded me of a hot pink lippie that I got recently! And lipstick is "flirty" right? :P (The lippie is Maybelline ColorSensational in Vivid Rose if you're wondering! + Please excuse my weird pose and the fact that I'm wearing no makeup other than the lipstick in the photo, haha.)
Swatch shows 2 coats, with no top coat.

Ocean by Kelly's Kolors is a beautiful ocean blue jelly with a ton of scattered holographic shimmer throughout. This polish is so beautiful and sparkly. Being a jelly, it is a little sheer but it looks totally squishy and pretty on the nail. It totally reminds me of the sun sparkling off the ocean in summer. :) I used 3 coats for my swatch + top coat. (I didn't use top coat on the other swatches but I wore this one as a full mani!)
I so badly wanted to get a photo of this in the sun but of course, the day I chose to swatch it, the weather was absolutely HORRIBLE! :( So I hope my flash & light box photos will suffice. Maybe I'll re-swatch it again in the future when the sun comes out.
For this polish I had big plans for photographing it and being 'creative' but the weather totally foiled my plans for that... So NEMO took over. :P
I was so excited to receive this polish for Blog Fest! Such a beautiful colour and Kelly is a fellow South Aussie blogger so you know, I had to own her polish. ;)

Hope you enjoyed these swatches and my nail art I created with them earlier this week. :)

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013 - Celebrating the Year of the Blogger

Hi ladies! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! :)
Today I have a super exciting post for you! Today is Aussie brand piCture pOlish's annual Blog Fest! Some bloggers all around the world have been chosen to share some piCture pOlish shades and create a nail design with them. I am so so so excited to be one of those chosen bloggers. :) This is my first time using piCture pOlish polishes!

The 3 polishes I have are Ariel's Tale (a clear base with ocean green glitters), Ocean (a light blue jelly with a holographic sparkle), and Flirt (a bright pink creme). But for now, here is the nail art I came up with...
**Please excuse how nubby and short my nails are right now! But hey, this blog IS 'Ten Little Nubs'... ;)**

On most of my nails I used 2 coats of Ocean as a base and added hearts using Flirt! ♥

On my thumb & ring finger I have created a gradient with Flirt as a base. I sponged on some of Ocean, which created a really pretty dark blue colour over the pink, and then I painted a bit of Ariel's Tale over the top for more sparkle. :)

I even went "on location" to the beach to photograph these! ;)

And here's how I achieved each of the designs...

Click on photo to view larger version...
1. Paint nails with 2-3 coats of Ocean.
2. Paint a square using 2 coats of Flirt onto a zip lock bag. Leave to dry for at least 3 hours.
3. Peel off carefully using tweezers.
4. Use a small heart hole puncher to cut out heart shapes.
5. Add slow-drying top coat to nails and place Flirt hearts using tweezers.
6. Add a generous layer of a fast dry top coat.

Click on photo to view larger version...
1. Paint nails with 2 coats of Flirt and leave until completely dry.
2. Paint strips of Flirt and Ocean onto a makeup sponge. Stamp sponge onto nail to blend colours. Repeat 2-3 times.
3. Add a coat of Ariel's Tale to 2/3 of nail.
4. Clean up cuticles with acetone and a makeup brush, then add a generous layer of a fast dry top coat.

Hope you enjoy this look! I absolutely love the gradient. ♥ I may wear it as a full manicure soon. If you try out either of the looks using my tutorials please send me a photo on Instagram or Twitter! Use the hashtag #tenlittlenubslook so I can see it (I sometimes miss photos in my feed). This goes for any design you see on my blog too. :)

If you'd like to vote for me in the piCture pOlish Blog Fest please click HERE and fill out the form! You could even win some polish for yourself!! Thank you sooo much. xx

Later this week I'll be posting a full swatch & review of the 3 piCture pOlishes in this post. :)

Celestial Cosmetics Swatches

Hi guys! I have some Celestial Cosmetics polishes to share with you today! :) Celestial Cosmetics is another South Aus. indie brand which is just one thing I love about them!
I have 6 polishes to show you so let's just get into it, shall we! :)

Blistering Barnacle is a sheer blue with silver and black hex glitters as well as some subtle white flakes. Awesome glitter combo! I think it looks really cute. The base was rather sheer but I only needed 2 coats to get it to the opacity I'd like. :) So I used 2 coats with top coat for my swatch.

Classy Comet is a black jelly with lots of pink holo glitters throughout in different sizes. This polish was created by Emma from Love Thy Polish especially for the release of Celestial Cosmetics! :) (Love Thy Polish is another SA indie brand!)
This is super pretty. However I think the black base drowns out the pink glitters a little, unfortunately. :( The glitter was definitely more obvious in person but I just failed to capture it in my photos.
I used 2 coats with top coat.

Cotton Candy is a light pink base with taupe-y grey small & large glitters! :D Super cute. This was really pigmented and really smooth to apply! Great glitter payoff in each coat too.
I used 2 coats with top coat.

Galactic Holo is a lovely blue holo (as the name would suggest!). The holo is a little more on the subtle side but it's more visible in person than it is in my photos. My camera struggles to pick up holos sometimes. :( The formula was so lovely and smooth to apply and it dried super fast too! So beautiful. I used 2 coats with no top coat.

Pink Posy is a gorgeous bright pink holo! :) This one was also fabulous to apply and dried fast so I didn't use a top coat over this one either. It's soooooo pretty. I used 2 coats.

Rose Gold is a red jelly with gold flakes and gold micro glitter. The gold glitters look so beautiful in the red base, ahh! So pretty. This would be a great polish to wear in summer! (Or any time, who am I kidding?! ;)) This was suuuuper sparkly in the sun!
I used 2 coats with top coat.

Celestial Cosmetics polishes are 3 free & cruelty free, and are available on their BigCartel shop. You can also keep up with them on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram!

Shades of Phoenix Beware of the Dark Arts Collection Swatches + Video

Hi guys! Today I have a new collection from Shades of Phoenix to show you! I'm so so excited about this collection! It's called the Beware of the Dark Arts collection, and it is inspired by Harry Potter! The Harry Potter books & movies are some of my all-time faves. When I was 9-10 I was obsessed with Harry Potter and remember watching the first movie a L.O.T that year.
These polishes are all beautiful sparkly glitter polishes in a dark base, and they're all named after spells that have been used in a form of "Defence Against the Dark Arts". Very vampy colours and super nice for winter especially.

This will be pic heavy so the rest of this review is after the jump!

Love Thy Polish Swatches

Helloooo there! I have some polishes to show you from Love Thy Polish today! :) These are a mix of polishes from her new collection, some from her previous (but still quite new) collection, and one of her permanent colours. :) I'll start with the newest polishes.

Blossom is a clear base that is packed with lots of holographic hot pink hex glitters! This is from the Animation Celebration collection and is inspired by Blossom from Powerpuff Girls! I loved Powerpuff Girls when I was little, haha!
For some reason these look like a different holographic sort of glitter than I'm used to seeing... I can't quite explain it but oh my gosh, beautiful. ♥ The base is totally packed with glitter! The larger glitters clumped together a little on the nail but a little nudge around with the brush fixed that. :)
I layered 1 coat of Blossom over OPI Chic From Ears to Tail.

East Australian Current is a deep (like the sea ;)) blue jelly with teeny tiny blue glitters. This one is also from the Animation Celebration collection, and this one's inspired by Finding Nemo and the journey they take along the East Australian Current! Again, Finding Nemo was another movie I loved when I was younger. I kinda saw it so many times I wore it out, though... Haha. I also can't wait to see Finding DORY! Eep. I love Ellen DeGeneres too.
Anyway, back to the polish. It has so much depth and it's unbelievably sparkly and squishy!! I used 3 coats + top coat.

I also re-swatched How Do You Spell FBI? which came in the What's In-die Box?. This one is also part of the Animation Celebration collection. I wasn't happy with my first swatch, because I did it when the sun was almost down, so I thought I'd re-swatch it. You can see my review here. My camera kinda freaked out at how shiny and sparkly this was in the sun! Haha. I used 2 coats here with top coat.

Shangri-La is a rosy gold (kind of peachy looking too) linear holographic. :D I'm soo into holos recently for some reason, and it's winter. o_O I totally love this, though. The colour is really unique for a holo in my collection, I don't own a ton of holos but I also don't own one this colour! This polish applied beautifully, no streaky-ness, no bald patches. It was a little bit sheer but it built up nicely in 2 coats! :) If you have longer nails than me, you might need a thin 3rd coat though. I didn't add top coat for my swatch because it did dry so fast and dried shiny. :)
Shangri-La is from the Dreams collection which is inspired by Stevie Nicks. (Not gonna lie - when I hear 'dreams' I always think of this part in the Yogi Bear movie... I have seen that way too many times).

Last but not least, Royalty is an amazing deep purple jelly with vibrant purple micro glitters throughout. So so so beautiful. I'm not even a huge dark purple lover but I adore this. This one is another that is really super sparkly and squishy. I looove these jellies.
I used 2 coats + top coat for my swatch. In the shade and indoors it looked fine but in the sun it looked a little patchy so I could have used a thin 3rd coat.

These polishes were all lovely, as are all of the Love Thy Polish shades I've tried. :) They're so gorgeous and I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to add some more indies to their collection!

You can grab Love Thy Polish on her store if you're in Australia, as well as Femme Fatale Cosmetics. For you international ladies, Love Thy Polish is available at Mei Mei's Signatures! :)
