Born Pretty Store Neon Stud Wheel {Review}

Hi lovelies! Today I have a nail art product to show you from Born Pretty Store that is perfect for summer. We've been experiencing a few days of cooler {but still warm} weather the past few days, and it has been so nice. I love when the weather is sunny and warm, but not hot, in the day time, and then cool, but not too cold, in the evening. Perfect. But we're about to have a heat wave here, so there goes that!

Anyway, let's get into the nail art!

I received this nail wheel including 400 x 2mm neon coloured studs ($4.19 USD) from Born Pretty Store to show you guys. You get purple, green, yellow, orange, blue & pink studs, in both square and round shapes.

I've only used studs on my nails a couple of times, so I definitely would not call myself an expert.
You can apply them by picking a stud up with tweezers and placing on your nail while your polish is still wet, and then add a top coat over or around the stud, or you can apply them with nail glue after your polish is dry.

I have tried to apply studs on my nail with top coat before and they only lasted an hour or two before falling off, but I don't have any nail glue handy at the moment so I applied them with top coat for the review.
I painted my nails a few different neon colours, and white, to go with the studs. I think they'd also look cool over a black manicure.

The colours I've used are China Glaze That's Shore Bright, Highlight of My Summer, Bottoms Up and Too Yacht to Handle {all from the Sunsational Collection from 2013} and Ulta3 Lily White.

You can get 10% off your Born Pretty order if you use the code CAL91 at checkout. They also have free worldwide shipping.

What do you think of these neon studs? I think they are so fun!

Rainbow Honey Magic Cake & The Bubbly Cuticle Balm {Swatch & Review}

Hi beauties!
Sophie from Femme Fatale Cosmetics sent me a few products to review recently {Femme Fatale Mirror of Dawn and Cirque Erda} and I have the last ones to show you today.
I have two products from the brand Rainbow Honey to review today. I've never tried anything from this brand before so I was really excited to try these out!

Magic Cake is a clear base with neon pink, blue and green glitters that are hexagonal and square in different sizes. It also has really small silver glitters scattered throughout. Perfect glitter for the upcoming summer season I think. Not gonna lie, I was sooo excited to receive this because I've seen swatches of it and fell in love.
Magic Cake was very packed with glitters, and pretty easy to apply. It was a little tricky to maneuver the glitters around on the nail but with a bit of patience it was fine.
I layered 1 coat of Magic Cake over Orly's Frisky and added 1 coat of top coat.

I also have a cuticle balm from Rainbow Honey to show you. This is in the scent The Bubbly. It smells like Wonka Fruit Tingles lollies to me! It smells so yummy. It is quite a strong scent however, but not too strong that I can't handle it. I can't do really super heavy perfume-y scents, but this isn't one of those. Rainbow Honey cuticle balms also come in 5 other scents, including unscented. So if you don't like or can't handle stronger scents, I'd say your safest bet would be to go with unscented.
The cuticle balm comes in a .07oz twist up tube which makes it easy to apply. It's really good for on-the-go, sometimes I just don't feel like dipping my finger into a pot of cuticle balm while I'm out and about. And it leaves my cuticles moisturised and looking nice for at least a couple of hours. (I usually reapply some sort of cuticle treatment every couple of hours even if my cuticles don't look or feel dry lol! Gotta keep those puppies moisturised peeps.)
My only concern is that the cuticle balm is quite soft. It's very nice and moisturising-feeling, but I feel as though I use up a lot of product every time I use it, and I don't think it will last a very long time if I'm using it every day, which I have been doing. But a plus is that it's not too expensive, so it won't break the bank too much if you use it up and need to repurchase.

Overall I'm super pleased with both Rainbow Honey products I received and I would definitely try some more of their polishes & cuticle balms. :)

Born Pretty Store Fluorescent Polish #14 + Stamping Plate MLS301

Hi guys! Today I have a nail polish and stamping plate from Born Pretty Store to share with you. :) I really love both of these items and am so excited to share them with you! :D

This polish is from their Fluorescent section and this is #14. It's a bright pink. Not the brightest in my collection but still really bright! I have been on the hunt for a perfect neon/bright pink polish and this is definitely a nice one! :) It would be a really nice pedicure colour for summer, too.
This polish has a rather thick formula but not really in a bad way. :) Of course if it's too thick for you, you can add a little polish thinner to it. The formula is not very self-levelling (possibly could be fixed by adding some thinner), but a good top coat will sort that out. It also has a nice wide brush that I found really easy to control and covers the nail really easily too.
This polish is 15mL for $4.99 USD.
I used 3 coats and added 1 coat of Seche Vite top coat to help it level out and dry fast.

(I have also just realised that this polish is supposed to glow under black light/UV light and I didn't test it under mine! I might have to re-swatch it and show you guys!
Update: I tried putting it under my UV lamp and it didn't glow...)

Here is a comparison between some other neon pinks in my collection (photos taken from my iPhone because it photographs neons much better than my camera!):

Pointer to pinky: Ulta3 Fruit Tingle (2 coats), Born Pretty #14 (3 coats), China Glaze Shocking Pink (3 coats), Color Club Jackie Oh! (2 coats).
In person the Color Club and China Glaze polishes are the brightest, with Ulta3 being a little less neon. The Born Pretty polish is the least neon out of all of these. But it is still really bright. :) The colour is quite similar to Ulta3 Fruit Tingle.

This is the stamping plate MLS301I'm not an expert at stamping but I would say I'm okay at it so I hope I do a good job at reviewing this plate for you guys!!
The plate comes with a blue protective plastic over the plate which you have to peel off before you can use it. (I have already done this obviously.) Be careful because this plate is a quite sharp at the edges. This plate has 11 images (sort of, lol). Two birds, a rainbow, an icecream/cupcake/sweets design, some stars, a lightning bolt and some little candies.... and I'm not quite sure what the thing at the bottom is supposed to be lol.
This plate costs $2.99 USD.

I just randomly stamped some of the images onto my nails over the pink nail polish. I found this plate to be really great quality for such a cheap plate! Absolutely fantastic quality. I had no trouble whatsoever picking up the images and getting them to stamp well! I was seriously impressed! :)
**Please remember that stamping DOES take some practice! If you have never stamped before, you will most likely not find it very easy. If you'd be interested in a stamping basics post or video, let me know.**
I used a Winstonia stamper and a gift card as my scraper. I stamped with a Born Pretty stamping polish in black which I purchased a few months ago and am only just now giving a try. I absolutely adore the stamping polishes from Born Pretty Store, they really work very well and they are so super cheap!
I actually really loved the way the black stamping looked over the pink. I will have to do some more pink + black manis soon. :)

Try It On Tuesdays! Ulta3 Fruit Tingle + Pretty Serious Daphne's Birthday Party

Today is my boyfriend's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAAAY! ♥) so I decided to go a bit outrageous on my nails. Well, this is outrageous for me anyway! It's probably not for most people. Haha. And both of these polishes I have never worn before so I figured it's totally perfect for a Try It On Tuesday! ;)

By the way, since this mani features a neon colour, it is totally NOT colour accurate lol. Neons are so annoying to photograph!

The neon pink in this mani is Ulta3 Fruit Tingle. I layered 2 coats of it over white to make it pop! And it's also sort of a jelly formula. I absolutely love it. This polish is the reason that this mani is outrageous for me! I never wear neons! But since it's summer in the US/other countries in the Northern Hemisphere I've been really wanting to wear a neon. Lately I've been obsessed with finding a good neon pink and this one is amazing! And only $2! Can't beat that! ;) I only own a few neons in my collection.

On my ring fingers I've used Pretty Serious Daphne's Birthday Party! What's more perfect than this for a birthday?! :) It's a crazy glitter bomb in a clear base. I used two thick dabbed coats to cover my nail and two coats of topcoat to smooth it out. Super sparkly and very birthday-ish. :)

So it turns out my iPhone can take much more colour accurate photos than my actual camera. Ha! I took a couple photos with my phone to show you.

Thanks for reading! ♥ And happy birthday to my amazing boyfriend! :) xo

Catch Up!

Hey guys! I'm so sorry I've been absent this week. It feels weird to not post every day! I've said it in almost every post recently, but the weather here just sucks right now so on the days when I do wear a manicure or want to swatch polishes (which I do have quite a few I need to swatch right now) I just can't take any photos because of the terrible weather.
I have shown a few manicures on Instagram, however. Follow me there for some behind the scenes funsies and manis that I don't always share here. I thought I'd show you some of them today. :) As well as some that may not have been on Instagram. Usually these are more boring manis or colours that I've already shared before.

This is a Mixcoco gel nail polish that I tried recently! I fell in love with it & the concept of gel polish. Beautiful creamy colour. Perfect palate cleanser! I may do a review on the gel polish soon. Let me know if you're interested.

OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest is one of my favourite dark polishes. It has an amazing glowy shimmer in it which you can see in the flash photo. I don't often wear darks because I just feel like they look strange on me! But for some reason when my nails are round, I like darks? I kept my nails this rounded shape for like, less than 24 hours, FYI. :P I missed my squares too much. I left my right hand rounded, though.

Lime Crime's Milky Ways is a very similar colour to the Mixcoco gel polish I wore! I just think these colours are a nice palate cleanser and are just easy for a quick mani.

My fave neon - China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy! In real life this is super neon and sooo fun! :D Sadly, it chips insanely quickly.

Another neutral. OPI Don't Burst My Bubble is a sheer white with a hint of pink to it. I love this colour, but not so much on me. In this photo it looks fine, but in person it looked a little weird against my skin tone.

That's about all for today! Let me know if you'd like to see these types of posts every so often! Maybe once a month. (By the way, I also now have a Disqus comment system instead of the regular Blogger comment system. It's better IMO because if I reply to a comment, the other person will get a notification email. :))

Glam Polish Intergalactic Collection

Hi guys! I hope you've had a great week. The school holidays are now technically over which I'm kinda sad about. I like having my siblings at home!
I have another new collection from Glam Polish to share with you! :D This is the Intergalactic collection, and it is made up of 2 clear based glitters and 5 pastel/creamy base glitters. I'm obsessed with this collection because there's so many brights/pastels! So me. ♥

Glam Polish Sunshine & Lollipops

Hellooo there! I have one lone shade from Glam Polish to share with you today! This swatch is on my right hand. :O Sorry if the hand "poses" are awkward. LOL. I don't think I'll be doing any more right hand swatches. ;)

Sunshine & Lollipops is a pastel yellow jelly base with green, yellow, white (I think.. they kinda look a tad purple to me!) and pink glitters! So bright! I seriously can't get enough of the butterfly glitters. They are sooo cute. :D
I used 3 coats + top coat for my swatch. And I only have sunlight photos of this! Weird because usually it's the opposite. Haha.

This will be available soon from Glam Polish so make sure you follow them on Instagram / Twitter / Facebook for updates. :)

Glam Polish Neon Nubs ♥

Hi guys! I am sooo excited about today's post! :D
The lovely Rachel (the mastermind behind Glam Polish) has put together a collection of polishes called Insta-Glam, a collaboration collection with some Aussie nail artists. I'm sooo excited to say that she chose me to help create a shade for the collection and I'll be showing you that polish today! :)

This is Neon Nubs. A baby blue jelly base with neon green, neon pink, neon blue and baby pink glitters throughout. Including stars. Gotta have me some big shapes in there! ;)
One of my favourite polish colours to wear is baby blue, and I'm in love with neon glitters right now so this was perfect!
I used 2 coats plus one coat of top coat for my swatch.

**Get ready to be pic spammed...**

Rachel did an amazing job on this polish! It was exactly what I had in mind! :) I absolutely adore it! ♥

The Insta-Glam collection will be available this Saturday the 6th of July at 10am AEST on the Glam Polish store. :)
