piCture pOlish Friday #4: 'Whimsy'

Hi there! I have the 4th and last piCture pOlish Friday for you today. :) You can see the other posts here: {1, 2, 3}.

Today I have Whimsy to show you. Whimsy is a collaboration shade with Neverland Nail Blog. {Gotta say - I had never heard of her blog until I searched it to do this post and I love it! Especially her Disneyland Engagement Photoshoot - HOW CUTE! That is like my dream come true.}

Whimsy is a beautiful baby pastel blue, with a strong green/gold shimmer through it. It applied beautifully. So smooth and lovely.

I was happy with the opacity in two coats, but it was a little patchy so I added a thin third coat. It was still a little patchy after the third coat, but it is such a beautiful colour that I don't mind. I love baby blues. ♥

So preeeeeeeeetty. :)

Thanks for reading my last PP Friday post! Don't forget to check out the other ones if you haven't seen them already!

And thank you sooo much piCture pOlish for sending me these four shades. ♥

Christmas Cuties ❅ {Nail Art}

I'm finding myself super busy lately, leaving me little time to do my nails at all, let alone do any nail art. But I recently made some time to crank out some cute Christmas nail art.

I've included lots of standard Christmas things in this manicure. Santa Claus, a snowman {although it doesn't snow here and I have never seen snow!}, a Christmas tree, a pudding and a Christmas jumper pattern!

My nail art skills are kind of rusty, so I made each nail pretty simple. {It may not look that simple to some, but I promise you, it really was. The whole manicure only took me about an hour to do. A normal one-colour-manicure usually takes me about 30 minutes for reference.}

Polishes used in this manicure:
  • Sinful Colors Rich In Heart
  • Ulta3 Lily White
  • OPI My Very First Knockwurst
  • China Glaze Winter Berry
  • OPI Big Apple Red
  • Ulta3 Black Satin
  • Essie Fear or Desire
  • Revlon Jaded Night
  • OPI My Favourite Ornament
  • China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright {'ornaments' on Christmas tree nail}
  • Rubi Shoes Taupe
  • Rimmel Acid House
  • B Squared Lacquer Glitzy {one star glitter used on Christmas tree nail}
Sooo, as you can see, I used a darn lot of polishes in this manicure. LOL.

Oh, and the weird red & green lines on the tip of the Snowman nail? That's supposed to be a scarf, k? ;)

On my thumb nail, I stamped over Sinful Colors Rich in Heart with Nailz Craze plate NC 03*, with Ulta3 Lily White polish. Despite Lily White not being completely opaque, it stamped pretty well!
I have had my eye on this stamping plate for a while because of this adorable Christmas jumper pattern image! A few stamping companies have similar images now but I think Nailz Craze was definitely one of the first to do it.
I used this squishy XL stamper from Winstonia to stamp with, by the way.
I have some more Nailz Craze plates to share with you soon {I cannot wait!}, and I'll probably use this one again in a full manicure because I love it so much. :)

Thanks for visiting, my lovelies. :D I hope I have some time to do more Christmas nail art before Christmas is here but I'm not sure if I will. I have a lot of posts planned & a whooooole lotta swatching to do!

piCture pOlish Friday #3: 'Electric Dream'

Today is the third piCture pOlish Friday! :) You can see last week's post here, or the week before here.

Electric Dream was created with Michaela from Nail Polish Anon. It is a coral hot pink base with a strong gold shimmer as well as some very small silver holographic flakes.

Electric Dream is opaque in two coats, and has a super lovely smooth formula. It dries to a slightly satin/matte finish which I'm finding a lot of PP shades do. As usual I added a shiny top coat.

 And a few outdoor shots. :)

Fat Lacquers - Dollar Menu Collection {Swatches & Review}

Hi friends! I have a new indie brand to show you today. Fat Lacquers is a US brand that just released for pre-order. I have swatches of their 4 piece Dollar Menu collection for you.

This collection is inspired by fast food; so unique! The labels are adorable, and check out these Nutrition Facts labels on the back! So cute!

30oz Sweet Tea is a very shimmery golden brown.
I found the formula on this one was quite thick, so I did add a couple of drops of polish thinner to it before I swatched it, as it was just a tad too thick for my taste.
2 coats {no top coat}.

Daddy Chicken Patty is a clear base with gold, copper, brown, white, black and green glitters.
This one also has a thick formula.
1 coat over 30oz Sweet Tea.

Soft Serve is a shimmery bright white.
This one had pretty much the same formula as 30oz Sweet Tea, so I also added polish thinner to it.
2 coats {no top coat}.

Two All Beef Patties is a clear base with brown, gold, black, copper, green, lime green and red glitters.
Again, another thick polish but that does help a bit to give a good coverage of glitter.
1 coat over Soft Serve.

By the way, when I say that these polishes have a thick formula; don't get me wrong. It's not an awful thick formula, they aren't gloopy and unusable. But for my taste they are a tad too thick and would benefit from a couple drops of thinner.

This collection is now available for pre-order, from Fat Lacquers' BigCartel store.

piCture pOlish Friday #2: 'Shy Violet'

Hi you guys! piCture pOlish Friday is here again. You can check out last week's PP post here.

This is Shy Violet, a bright violet jelly base with silver micro flakes throughout. I love piCture pOlish's polishes in this style! Shy Violet was made in collaboration with Rachel from Glam Polish! And yes, that's the same Rachel from the Glam Polish indie brand. :) She actually had a blog before she started making her own polish if you weren't aware.

Sorry about the horrible glare in all of the following photos. :/ I tried everything to get the glare to go away when I was photographing. :(

Shy Violet dries to a slightly matte/satin finish, as it is quite a bright colour; so I'm guessing it has a slight neon pigment in it. I just applied a shiny top coat, because I prefer shiny nails. :)
It is also rather sheer, so I needed 3 coats for opacity. In the harsh light in my photos, the polish looks much more sheer than it actually was, however.

And some outdoor shots...

Love Thy Polish: A Very Snowy Trio {Swatches & Review}

Hi everyone!
Well, I am living up to my blog name right now. My nails are nubs. Just when I got them to the perfect shape and length, I went on a crazy filing spree. I had a job trial, and I'd most likely be working with my hands a bit so I decided to file my nails as short as I could go. I then shaped my nails round again - do not even ask me why I keep doing that, knowing that I don't like it - then I decided the next day that I didn't like it and went back square. I didn't have much nail to work with either, so now my nails are insanely short... Woops! So please just excuse the nubbies. Anyway, enough about that.

I have the A Very Snowy Trio from Love Thy Polish to show you today! This is Emma's Christmas trio for this year. :) This trio is based on snow, as you may have guessed. I don't know a lot about snow because, well, I've never seen snow. Haha. Anywho. Let's get into the swatches, shall we. :)

Plowed is a holographic dark grey {with a blue sort of undertone to it}. I love Emma's holos. :D
The formula on this was lovely, and quite opaque. I always find that Emma's holos dry quite fast {in a good way!} and this one was no exception. :) In my light box the holo wasn't very visible at all, but in the sun it was a little more visible. It definitely does look more holo in the bottle, though.
I used 2 coats + 1 coat of top coat for my swatch.

Sitting Pretty is a very dark chocolate brown jelly base with small white glitters and a subtle holographic shimmer. This one was a little sheer but easy to apply. It was pretty much opaque in 2 coats but I decided to do 3. :) This was suuuuper sparkly in the sun but I couldn't capture it. :(
I used 3 coats + 1 coat of top coat for my swatch.

Snowflakes Falling has small silver holographic & blue square glitters in a clear base. Great glitter payoff in just one coat!
I used 1 coat of Snowflakes Falling layered over black + 1 coat of top coat. :)

These 3 colours are very unique for a Christmas collection! I really like it. All 3 polishes could be worn any time of the year which is great because sometimes it can seem a little pointless to have polishes that you would ONLY wear one day / time of the year.

The A Very Snowy Trio will be available this Saturday, the 30th of November {at 10am South Australia time}.

The prices will be:
$6.50 for an 8mL mini {holos $8.50}
$9.50 for 12mL full size {holos $12}
