Product Empties #1

Hi guys!
I have my first ever "empties" post for you today! I started seeing these on YouTube and some of my fave bloggers like LabMuffin & Every Little Polish have been doing similar posts.
In these posts I'll just show you a few products that I have finished up and tell you what I think about them! :)
I take forever to go through products, and I thought that this would help me to go through them. So I can review them, and recommend (or not recommend) them to you guys. I won't be doing these posts super often, because it does take me so long to go through products.

smartskin Fragrance Free Cleansing Wipes

I usually like to buy my own facial wipes (my favourites are the Simple Cleansing Wipes), but my mum bought these wipes for me when she bought some for my sister and herself. I believe this is a Woolworths brand? They say that they're suitable for sensitive skin, and are alcohol and oil free.
Even though these say they're suitable for sensitive skin (which I have), they did irritate my skin a little. Not so badly that I couldn't use them at all, but I found myself mainly only using these to remove makeup swatches or any other makeup on my fingers/hands. There are cheaper wipes you can get, if you're only going to use them for that purpose.

Price: $4.99* from Woolworths (can be found on sale for $2.00*).
Would I repurchase?: No.

Swisspers Naturals Cucumber Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes - 5pk

I ran out of facial wipes and needed to use some, so I found these that my mum had a few spare packets of. It says they're suitable for all skin times, and alcohol free so I thought they'd probably be okay for me.
I used one to remove my makeup one night and it was fine. I didn't have that much makeup on though.
Then, a few days later I used one to remove my makeup (I was wearing a bit more this day) and woke up the next morning with red, irritated, itchy cheeks. :( So, I would not recommend these for someone with sensitive skin. They worked alright at removing the makeup though, so if you don't have sensitive skin you might like them.

Price: $1.49 (5pk) from Priceline.
Would I repurchase?: No.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser

I don't remember actually purchasing this moisturiser, so I think it may have been one that was given to me by someone who tried & didn't like it.
I didn't mind this moisturiser. I quite like Aveeno products. I didn't find it to be amazing or anything but it did moisturise my skin okay. I have fairly dry skin (especially in winter) so I need to use a more heavy moisturiser. I can't say anything about the 'radiant' claim on this, however. I didn't notice myself looking radiant, lol.

Price: $16.99* at Chemist Warehouse.
Would I repurchase?: Maybe, if it was on sale. Aveeno products can be a little expensive.

Biore Nourish Moisture Lotion

This was another moisturiser that was given to me by someone (I believe it was my Auntie..?) who didn't like it.
I really liked this moisturiser more than the Aveeno one above. It was more moisturising on my dry skin. With some moisturisers, my dry patches come back by the middle of the day but that didn't happen with this one.

Price: $12.95* from Westfield.
Would I repurchase?: Yes.

Dove Original Antiperspirant Deodorant Moisturising Cream

This is my all time favourite deodorant. I feel like it's kind of weird to have a favourite deodorant, haha. But this is the one I always repurchase. I like these solid cream type deodorants because I don't like the wet feeling from roll-on deodorants.
This deodorant also seems to last me a lot longer than others!

Price: $6.05* from Guardian Pharmacies.
Would I repurchase?: Yes, always. :)

CND Stickey Base Coat

This is a base coat that I finished a long time ago but I've had the bottle laying around for who knows what reason! I literally bought this in June last year when I went to Sydney.
I'd heard a lot about this base coat on other blogs. Many people love this base coat! CND Stickey (yes, that's how they spell it) is a base coat that doesn't dry to a completely dry finish. It dries with a tacky/sticky finish, hence the name 'Stickey'. The tacky finish is supposed to help your nail polish colour to adhere to the nail better and therefore last longer. It has a green tint to it but that doesn't do anything. It doesn't look that green on the nail.
Unfortunately I can't really comment on the longevity of the base coat, because as you probably know, I only wear my nail polish for a day or two maximum so I rarely have problems with chipping or anything. The bottle I have is 9.8mL, but it also comes in larger sizes. I probably wouldn't repurchase, just because the base coat I'm using now (which I'll show you in a moment) is much cheaper and works fine.

Price: $11.85* (+ shipping) from eBay.
Would I repurchase?: Probably not any time soon.

Essence Studio Nails 24/7 Nail Base

(This photo is of my new bottle of the Essence base coat as I just repurchased it and threw out my old bottle)
This is hands down my favourite base coat at the moment. It has a milky colour to it, but dries basically clear, and to a matte finish. It's not too thick in consistency, and dries very fast which I love. It's also very affordable which is my favourite part.
Again, I can't comment on longevity.
I will keep repurchasing this until they discontinue it, because they like to do that with their products a few times per year. :( When they do, I may think about purchasing the larger bottle of CND Stickey.

Price: $2.95* from Priceline.
Would I repurchase?: Probably not any time soon.

Britney Spears Curious Perfume

When I was younger, this was one of my favourite perfumes. I enjoy all of the Britney Spears perfumes. This little bottle came in a little Britney Spears perfume gift set that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas in 2011. This is the second bottle I've owned of Curious. I don't know what size this one i0s, but I'm guessing it's the smallest size available (so possibly 30mL - don't quote me on that!).
I'm rubbish at describing scents but this is probably a "younger" scent but anyone could enjoy the scent, really. It's described as a white floral fragrance with Louisiana Magnolia and wrapped in the sensuality of vanilla infused musk. Sooo, there you go. Nowadays I'm not super into 'musky' scents, however so I'm not too sad to be finished this bottle.

Price: $17.99* for 100mL at Chemist Warehouse.
Would I repurchase?: Maybe, if I did it would only be the small size again.

So, I hope you guys enjoyed my first Empties post. Empties videos have to be one of my favourite types of videos to watch on YouTube. I don't know why, it's just so fascinating! Haha.
Let me know if you'd like to see more Empties posts in the future.

Thanks for visiting ♥

*Note: Prices may vary from the time I looked up the prices*

  1. I once owned two full bottles of Curious because people kept giving it to me as gifts, and I hate it. Usually if I don't love a fragrance I still don't mind it, but Curious is kind of too "young-smelling" for me, and it's not subtle enough that I can just deal with it. I ended up throwing it out. Kudos to you for finishing your bottle though! I've never finished a bottle of perfume, so maybe that's a sign I have too many and need to start cutting back :P

  2. I love empties posts too! I'm assuming the Biore moisturiser is a facial moisturiser? I'm on the hunt for a good body moisturiser with SPF for dry skin.
