Bridal Nail Polish Picks.

(Alright I totally messed up Love Month. I decided that the schedule was way too much for me to keep up with - I should've known that - so I decided to stop Love Month here.)

I have been posting some bridal nail art ideas recently, but I figured that a lot of brides out there would be more likely to wear a more subtle manicure for their big day.

Here are my top nail polish picks for brides.

If you want something traditional, subtle, feminine, you can go for a classic sheer pink or white. Some of my favourites are all from OPI, including Don't Burst My Bubble, I Theodora You and Don't Touch My Tutu. Or for a more opaque finish, you can go for a rosy nude like My Very First Knockwurst.
If you're on a tight budget, Cotton Candy or Sweet as Candy by Essence are also a nice choice.

If you'd like to add a little bit of sparkle to your mani, some of my favourite glitters are OPI Crown Me Already, which will give you an opaque bling-bling finish, Twinkle Toes from Ulta3 (another great budget buy) is pretty over any colour, or for a glitter gradient, and China Glaze Glistening Snow which would work for an opaque look or glitter gradient.

If you're looking for your something blue I have two recommendations. Essie's Borrowed and Blue is an opaque almost-white baby blue, and obviously perfect for a wedding. Or perhaps you need a colour to go with your Tiffany's ring, if you happen to be so lucky. ;) You can't go past For Audrey from China Glaze. These colours would also make a cute wedding pedicure!

Last but not least, I have a few indie polishes that would make a great wedding day mani.
Pretty Serious Bloody Bride is a unique and different pick, but so incredibly beautiful and would be pretty on anyone.
If you're looking for a little bit of subtle sparkle to go over any colour you choose, you can't go past Fairy Lights by Love Thy Polish.
Another adorable romantic glitter topper that features super cute hearts is Gloss n Sparkle's Hearts Aflutter. This would look very cute as an accent nail over a subtle pink polish.

You may notice that I also showed some of these polishes in my Valentine's Day Polish Picks post a couple weeks ago. They're just perfect romantic shades so that's why! :)

What polish would you (or did you) choose for your wedding? I would love to know some of your recommendations!

Pretty Serious Bloody Bride

In October, Pretty Serious Cosmetics released the Till Death Do Us Party collection for Halloween, which was created for Kaz & Ben's horror theme wedding! ♥ I purchased the special Wedding Edition set a couple months back. It's still available now so I definitely recommend you go grab it {along with the new They Came From Beyond Space II collection which features textured glitters!}.

I can't believe it took me this long, but today I have one of the polishes to share with you!

{ Please excuse any fuzzes or dust in my photos... Oops hehe }

This is Bloody Bride, and it is the polish that Kaz wore on her wedding day! :) Definitely fitting for a horror theme wedding!
It's a deep red jelly base with red and purple glitters, including some holographic ones.
The formula was a bit thicker than I'm used to seeing from Pretty Serious, so I'll be adding a couple drops of thinner before I use it again.
I used 2 coats + 2 coats of top coat to smooth out the glitter.

This polish actually kills my want for Essie's Toggle to the Top. Don't get me wrong - they are not dupes {the Essie is just a red glitter in a dark red base} but from swatches I've seen, it's similar enough for me to not need both. :)

ANMonday - Red/Orange/Yellow {Indie Month}

Today's ANMonday theme, continuing on with the Aussie Indie polishes is Red, Orange or Yellow.

I felt a bit 'eh' about this theme because red, orange and yellow are not my favourite colours to wear on my nails, and I don't own many indie polishes in those colours.
But, I was going to an early Christmas picnic for my church yesterday, and thought it would be perfect to pull out a Christmas-y red polish! :)

The red polish I chose to use is Santa's Sunburn by Pretty Serious Cosmetics, from the Christmas Without Snow collection from 2012, which is a beautiful glow-y red foil. This beauty is almost opaque in one coat! I used two of course. ;) This is THE perfect Christmas red! If you don't have it, you need it.

I paired this with Alanna Renee's Golden Snitch from the Magical World collection, because for some reason I can't wear a polish alone. Too boring for me. ;)
I've done a swatch of Golden Snitch alone a few months back, which you can see {here}.

Thanks for visiting! :)

Pretty Serious Naughty Night Shift Nurse

Hi guys! I have a polish to show you that is quite sought after. When it was gifted to Kristy, many people went crazy and asked Kaz & Ben of Pretty Serious if they would please make more of this polish for the public. A month or so back, Pretty Serious announced that they would have a limited number of Naughty Night Shift Nurse {NSNN} available to everyone. I was one who wanted it soo badly. The lovely Bec grabbed me a bottle when she bought hers. :) Thanks so much Bec!
There was a fair bit of drama that followed the launch of NNSN and I won't be talking about that here. If you'd like to know more, you can read the Pretty Serious posts here, here, here, and here. Pretty Serious are actually running a competition to win NNSN and 2 other limited edition polishes! If you'd like to enter you can check that out here.

Anyway, let's get into the polish, shall we?

By the way, I actually swatched this a few weeks ago so you may have already seen me post it on Instagram.

NNSN is hard to describe but I will do my best... It's a purple/blue {blurple?} to red duochrome base with orange-green flakies. You can build it up to opacity on its own with 3 coats but I layered 2 coats over OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. It was fairly easy to apply, a little bit thick, but not bad.

Sadly, I didn't love this polish. I really wanted to. And I loved it in the bottle, but not as much on the nail. I think I may have liked it a bit more if I'd worn it on its own, rather than over a base colour. It's a little too frosty looking in the sun for my taste, and I'm not a huge fan of duochromes anyway. I do like it a bit more in the photos but in person I just didn't love it. Since it was so sought after and hard to get, I decided it would be better to pass it onto someone who will love it rather than have it sit in my Helmer collecting dust. So I have already passed this onto a more loving home. I'm sure my NNSN will feel more loved over there in her new home. :)

I know that many people will {and do} love this polish, however so trust me when I say that it's not a "bad" polish by any means. Just not really my taste is all!

Were you lucky enough to get your hands on a bottle of NNSN? What do you think of it?

Thanks for reading. ♥

Try It On Tuesdays! Ulta3 Fruit Tingle + Pretty Serious Daphne's Birthday Party

Today is my boyfriend's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAAAY! ♥) so I decided to go a bit outrageous on my nails. Well, this is outrageous for me anyway! It's probably not for most people. Haha. And both of these polishes I have never worn before so I figured it's totally perfect for a Try It On Tuesday! ;)

By the way, since this mani features a neon colour, it is totally NOT colour accurate lol. Neons are so annoying to photograph!

The neon pink in this mani is Ulta3 Fruit Tingle. I layered 2 coats of it over white to make it pop! And it's also sort of a jelly formula. I absolutely love it. This polish is the reason that this mani is outrageous for me! I never wear neons! But since it's summer in the US/other countries in the Northern Hemisphere I've been really wanting to wear a neon. Lately I've been obsessed with finding a good neon pink and this one is amazing! And only $2! Can't beat that! ;) I only own a few neons in my collection.

On my ring fingers I've used Pretty Serious Daphne's Birthday Party! What's more perfect than this for a birthday?! :) It's a crazy glitter bomb in a clear base. I used two thick dabbed coats to cover my nail and two coats of topcoat to smooth it out. Super sparkly and very birthday-ish. :)

So it turns out my iPhone can take much more colour accurate photos than my actual camera. Ha! I took a couple photos with my phone to show you.

Thanks for reading! ♥ And happy birthday to my amazing boyfriend! :) xo

ANMonday - Sci Fi

Hi guys! I hope you had a lovely weekend! I had a pretty good one despite getting sick halfway through! My family has had a yucky cold recently and I've just caught it too. :(

So for this theme I actually had to look up what was classified as sci fi. LOL. A little embarrassing but whatever. IMDB told me that superhero movies are considered sci fi. And superhero movies are my favourite movies sooo it's no surprise that that's what I did! Actually, a lot of movies that I would've considered to be more 'action' movies are supposedly 'sci fi', so that's interesting.

Last week the Man of Steel movie came out and I am soooo excited to see it! I'll probably see it this weekend. :) So of course for today's ANMonday I did Superman nails!

I did a gradient of Pretty Serious Santa's Sunburn (the most incredible red shimmer EVER!) and Pretty Serious BSOD for the base, and then stamped with plate FUN2 and a silver stamping polish. I got the plate and polish from My Online Shop. The stamping is definitely NOT perfect, LOL, but I'm sick and wanted to get the mani finished before the sun went down sooo that's my excuse.

Excuse any sparkles you may see around my skin. The gradient was sooo hard to clean up!

Have you seen/are you excited to see Man of Steel?! I heard that it's quite long... but I hope I still like it. :) I've heard it's great otherwise! And what is your favourite sci fi movie?

Pretty Serious The Pink One

Hey ladies! I'm skipping AN Monday today because my design was a fail. :( lol.
I was having a pretty *meh* day Thursday last week... but then Pretty Serious came to the rescue when my little order popped up on my front door step. :) I immediately had to put on The Pink One to brighten up my day and it did just that!
I should have the other polish in my order to show you some time soon! ... But I always seem to order some polish, then use one from the order, then when I take that one off, a new package arrives and I use one from that order and so on. So some polishes end up left behind. :(
The Pink One is an insanely bright neon pink with a heavy blue/pink shimmer.
I don't usually go for pink polishes but this one, I HAD to have when I saw how insanely awesome it looked! Plus I don't own many neons so I thought I should expand my collection in that department. ;)
My camera sorta freaked out a bit at this polish but I tried to make it look as accurate as possible in my photos! Imagine it much more vibrant and saturated with colour. I put up a couple photos on Instagram (here, and here) that looks much more true to life.
I was also shocked that my boyfriend thought this was a cool polish too, considering it's pink haha.
I absolutely love this and I think it'll look amazing on toes in summer!

Pretty Serious polishes can be found on the Pretty Serious site and they ship worldwide! :)
They also just celebrated their 1st birthday! Woohoo!

Happy Birthday Pretty Serious Cosmetics

Hey there! I have another post for you today. :O
Today is the first birthday of Pretty Serious Cosmetics and the birthday of their mascot Daphne who is the pretty girl you see on all the Pretty Serious packaging. :)
Today everybody is sharing the gorgeous Daphne's Birthday Party to celebrate!
I don't actually own DBP yet (I'm sure I will at some point haha, it looks awesome) but I thought I would share another polish from Pretty Serious with you anyway!
This is Liquid Leprechaun. A bright green jelly base with small and micro gold and green glitters.
It was super duper easy to apply. A little thick but I like that in a glitter like this because then you get a really good glitter coverage on the nails without having to do a million coats. ;)
I used two coats here, and topped it with Seche Vite top coat.

I never used to like green polish but lately I love it! :) I don't think this type of green looks that great on me but that won't stop me wearing it! :D

Happy 1st Birthday Pretty Serious!

Guest Post: Every Little Polish!

Hey guys! Today sharing with us on my blog is Rose from Every Little Polish. When I discovered her blog I fell in love. ♥ Her pictures are awesome quality and I just love her nails! She's a fellow Aussie blogger too. :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey everyone! I'm Rose from Every Little Polish, and I'm so excited to be writing my very first guest post! In fact, this is also my very first attempt at freehand nail art. I saw a pixel heart design over at @Emmas_Nails on Instagram, and it got me thinking about one of my favourite video games - The Legend of Zelda. I've been playing this game a lot recently instead of doing more important things like grocery shopping, so of course I had to attempt a Zelda-inspired mani!

To paint the fairy, I used a watercolour technique using acetone to blend the colours and create an ethereal look. I used Pretty Serious Elliot, OPI What's With The Cattitude and Ulta3 Lily White, blended together in varying layers. The trailing glowing dots were a bit of a fail but I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out for my first attempt.
I'm getting inspired to do nail art based on all my favourite video games now. I hope you enjoyed this post, and thanks for reading! Also a huge thanks to Elissa for inviting me to do a guest post on her awesome new blog!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A huge thank you to Rose for this guest post! This has to be one of the coolest nail designs I've ever seen! The pixel hearts are awesome.

Go and check out Rose's blog! You'll love it.

I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and stays safe if you're going away for the long weekend. :) (That is, if you have a long weekend over Easter where you live... If not, just have a good weekend!)
